He grew up in the south side of Chicago, Robert Taylor Homes AKA ( The projects). He attended Calumet High School and played baseball but received no scholarship. After school he went to work for Ford Motor Company. Later on in life he was given the chance to attend Bradley University College. After about 1 year he was transferred to Triton College. In the 1982 MLB draft he was picked 1st round 3rd pick by the Minnesota twins. In 1997 Kirby Puckett retired because on March 28, he woke up without vision in his right eye. He was diagnosed with glaucoma. Since he could not play because of his conditions he was the manager of the Twins for a while. After his baseball life he moved to Phoenix, AZ where he died of a stroke. Age (45). He also had a wife (Tonya Husdon) and 2 kids Catherine Puckett and Kirby Puckett JR.
